I came to this city slipping, out of fear and awe
with a choking soul that grieved, the death of all vows
and now dazed with the monarch, exiled to the Jungle
are we the faces of Kollwitz stacked in a loud hush?

Hidden in my tower of Babil, as their fangs devoured
hopes and years just withered, now the future is dark
all that was poor and genuine now spoiled and double priced
