01. CITY LONG LOST the world is sick the world is lost the man needs no one by his side I came to this city slipping, out of fear and awe with a choking soul that grieved, the death of all vows and now dazed with the monarch, exiled to the Jungle are we the faces of Kollwitz stacked in a loud hush? We'll never bargain with the rogue, they are out of their minds But the deep gloom thickens all around, the city is long lost. Hidden in my tower of Babil, as their fangs devoured hopes and years just withered, now the future is dark all that was poor and genuine now spoiled and double priced that great feeling of release and healing doesn't fit the new cult We'll never bargain with the rogue, they are out of their minds Was I daydreaming or absorbed when you were by my side? And I swear you were a panther, black like the blackest of the nights and then suddenly a goddess, blonde like a crop field in the sun Please don't stop dancing, our fate is a warm embracing dance away Vile eyes watch in the dark over you, so they can lay their hands on me. Do not let them lead you astray, trust me they don't feel safe upstairs because up the stairs there is no way out, yeah, up the stairs there is no way out from me. We'll never bargain with the rogue and settle somewhere safe I don't feel worthless anymore with you by my side. The world is far The world is wide The man needs someone by his side (From "FINE", full length album released in 2024)

02. 23.03 (Panic to the people) March twenty third. I'm soon airborne to Milan one day after Brussels, nothing can go wrong. All bins are closed, the cabin crew performs the safety demo dance, we're ready to take off. Dear passengers, I'm sorry there's an inconvenience. We are forced to leave the runaway and head back to the parking lot, some of you don't feel safe enough, we got to give them the chance to get their bags and leave. Some Muslim weirdo took a photo of his bag and shared it in an Arab chat. Hey wait! Let's check his bag again! No way! Why don't we check yours? The captain tries to keep everyone on the rational side, but the panic is off leash and now more people want to get off the plane and stay in Berlin Let's read his phone! Does anyone speak Arabic in here? The police makes a background check of the guy and when the sun is setting we take off Hell no! what if he is going to pee? Oh God! I think we're gonna die. About halfway through the flight I reach the toilet in the back, everyone is calm but the Syrian guy, headphones on his head and all around suspicious eyes. He was just a normal guy like me A student flying south to see a friend That's what I fear the most, another buildup we don't anticipate. A few turds poison the air we all breathe in, then breathe out and you've got a role in this shit How come we're there again? A peaceful stranger is a terrorist threat and the same liars pushing for more surveillance sign deals to sell more bombs and more death Give back your freedoms Distrust your neighbor Follow your leaders They'll save your future. 03 - GLIMPSE OF A MAN To my elusive dream within the hypogeum with pipes in long warm ducts and spheres. A sprawl of silent looks with harmonious steps and thuds, they climb a steep spiral upwards And towards a weakening light, as time defrauds. Dull hopes thriving on a mirage and life wears out. No Virgil in this dream, the muses won't respond to guide him through the crypt onwards. And those brave plans made at night conceived to change his fate, they're chandeliers of ice, they melt at daylight. Basking in the illusion of time, he's the glimpse of what will fade like a cloud. And looking for the reasons of life may have got him just a little too far Far from risking to recognize his own disguise brought to light. And there he lingers as they march, spheres against pipes, eyes forlorn. What if he's got nothing to say? What if he belongs down here? “No, you will not escape us and will not be different, but will remain such as you have been: full of doubts; full of dissatisfaction with yourself, and of vain attempts at improvement followed by failures, and continual hopes of the happiness which has escaped you and is impossible for you.” (From "FINE", full length album released in January 2024)

04 – SAILING TO NOLOI From the high white cliffs of Capo Noloi I will watch the waves crash into my past with faithful Mortimer right there by my side a safe impervious shelter for an old man May the ancient walls protect us again against the rampant nonsense leading the way, in a world where life is a series of shots celebrating unrepeatable lies Back to my lodge on the trail of moonflowers with more books to read than days left to live our memory is a cherished watchtower and our misery is the keeper of truth Down the forest path until the witch tower I'll spend hours contemplating the sky everyday the sunset is showing a face of what is past, or passing, or yet to come. 05 – TARAB OF INDEPENDENCE 1982, Max said his father had a bazooka I said Bullshit! Let´s go see it, he said we can go tomorrow No! we go today. So we escaped from kindergarten. Almost reached the corner, then Max stepped on a needle. The little school princess called the guards 2016 and I still believe Max faked the injury, though we brought him back and then faced judgement in a trial. They said we should plead guilty, express regret in front of everyone “Fuck! the gate was open and I had to prove Max is a liar” But the little school princess called the guards like that time we climbed a tree to the roof of the school and I saw my world from a different and higher perspective 1901, said our dearest Mary Gorman Gray Raymond, my boy, never do what everybody does and she could recite Shakespeare all day long like it's a Gospel Be yourself, neither beg nor fear their favors nor their hate Always the common, always the vulgar and ordinary we shall despise the sound of silence their brain is making, a desolate shell, is all they've got To worship custom is to destroy oneself while independence will save this world Always the common, always the vulgar and ordinary we shall despise The sound of silence their brain is making is desolating, it's all they've got I'm not superior, but I've got superior ideas, that the value of a man is in what he can make with his very hands In this rotten world where all men emulate and repeat, you will make everything that you need for yourself and attempt to need nothing else. Always the common, always the vulgar and ordinary we shall despise The sound of silence their brain is making is desolating, it's all they've got. 07 – ANNA AGAINST MIMNERMUS I drink to our house in ruins, to my cursed life to our loneliness together and to you, I raise my glass to the deception of lips that betrayed and the dead frost of our eyes to a world wretched and coarse and to a god who couldn't save us. What we're taught is love will take you by storm when you grow up, until the day you die. No one warns, men crave what they don't have Another charm, a new smell, a body fills the lack of self-esteem a glamour out of time with roaring clouds, you're the storm itself. This love is a ghost, our vows run on a blade they were cursed, bound to be broken, they were promised to be vain And then i will again deny you're my most precious thing it's the prophecy of Mimnermus we're impalpable against. Leave us alone We'll fall apart But what life would there be, what joy, without golden Aphrodite? And may I die when I be no more concerned with furtive love and all the suasive gifts of youth Forsake what she is worth, a light you can't perceive. She will choke, so will your brightest future. (From "FINE", full length album released in January 2024)

08 – THE LAST SONG WE EVER WROTE A group of young friends in a bar, they laugh and talk and talk and laugh what makes them feel so happy then? Sometimes I can't understand if everyone is so cool, don't you feel like a visitor from the Moon? An old toy dismantled, just thrown away, to make room for more Sure the ravens go in ranks, an eagle flies but on his own but woe to him who is alone, for when he falls, he has no one to help him up. And ain't life misterious? A stupid cocky world where the bright are full of doubts So I'm waiting for a good idea, but she doesn't know where I am and I do have a couple of questions indeed. Like when do we really start to loathe our friends? Friends will kill us Or why do we burn down the banks, when we should burn the bankers alive? Banks will kill us And why wasn't there yet a serial killer for members of cover bands? Clones will kill us We don't know what there is on the other side of life, but what's on this side of death? Life will kill us White crests of snow you learn to climb, then you're too old to reach up high and there your friends, the good old days when you were close they need to shrink to free up space for the new fueds over old flaws When did it start that bitter taste we now abhor? Perhaps some words we could have skipped, or was it just us getting old? The die is cast, we'll never know It's time to walk away when it's too late but how hard is to forgo what once was so dear I've seen the fate that future holds for friends and foes an empty field where freedom grows for me and you. I've seen the fate that future holds for friends and foes an empty field where freedom grows for me and you. I've seen the fate that future holds for me and you an empty field where freedom grows for friends and foes I've seen our fate. (From "FINE", full length album released in January 2024)

What is the point of releasing a posthumous record?

Let's put it like this: We had a very long ride with a tough epilogue. The band was already on life support even before recording the album, it most certainly died and vanished while in the studio in 2020, but the body was never found.

FINE is that body. It is the last frame of what has been an exciting story for us. It is a swansong that was absolutely worth putting out there.

FINE features arguably the best music we have written as a band and that despite the hardship and tensions that surrounded the entire process of writing and recording the Album, which ultimately escalated into an epic feud, worthy of far more famous and iconic rock bands of the past. It is indeed utterly remarkable that we somehow managed to produce such a fine album despite the circumstances that led to our demise. So it was only right that this effort should see the light of day.

FINE is about a time where the band was the center of our lives, and even the relationships within the band were in some way fundamental to its members. Some of those relationships are no more and I remember being left alone mixing and mastering the album with the trusty and patient Fabio at Trai Studio, driven only by the determination to bring the ship home through the storm at any cost, and feeling persuaded that one day we would look back with different eyes and a much lighter heart, or perhaps our children would be able to do that for us in the future.

FINE was born and shaped into what you can hear now in a handful of years, during which some unwritten but shared certainties, values, and standards were beginning to crumble and vital social structures were dissolving at an increasingly alarming pace. Devoid of any presumption to present itself as a prophetic album, coming out now after years of silent burial, it is nonetheless terrifying to witness how the alarms and campaigns of pacifists, anti-fascists and activists raised in those years turned out to be tremendously well founded.

FINE is full of those alarms and drenched with that frustration, in the face of a world that was speeding along and unwilling to hear the most basic reasons and concerns for the rise and proliferation of hatred, discrimination, individualism, nationalism and the worst instincts of voracious capitalism that has given us the world in which we find ourselves living today. The amount of time that has been wasted downplaying and neglecting these issues is really disheartening, to the point where I can now better understand why it was so important for me to scream and lament these topics into a microphone all around Europe.

FINE means end in Italian, but it also means purpose and it clearly suggests a sense of acceptance in English, where everything is fine.

FINE is about love, losing love and losing loved ones, whether it is a person, a city or eventually a band.

It was vital for me to be able to accept the end of the purpose behind this band, through the catharsis of this album and these silent years. We are capable of mean things and sharp words as humans, they hurt, sometimes really deep, to such an extent that they shake the very basis of your personality, especially when what you hold so dear is being torn apart. I had to step away from everything until it was fine again. Perhaps other members of the band went through a similar process, I am not sure.

Over time I'm also learning that accepting the end would give way to a new purpose. It is not at all an easy step to welcome the end as a rebirth, a blank sheet of paper, the start of a new chapter.

The last lines of this record, of this band and its nearly two decades of existence go like this:

"I've seen the fate that future holds for friends and foes, an empty field where freedom grows for me and you.
I've seen the fate that future holds for me and you, an empty field where freedom grows for friends and foes
I've seen our fate."

I hope you enjoy our FINE
